Málaga Now
Cookie Policy
Last updated: 30 June 2026
This policy explains which cookies we use, their purpose and how you can control them.
Málaga Now is an independent travel guide to Málaga and its province. It uses cookies and similar technologies on https://malaganow.es. This policy provides detailed information about each cookie category and individual cookies, in compliance with EU Directive 2009/136/EC (ePrivacy), the Spanish LSSI-CE and the data-protection framework (GDPR and the Spanish LOPDGDD). All non-necessary cookies are set ONLY after you give your consent.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device (computer, tablet or phone) through your browser when you visit it. Cookies let the site remember information about your visit, such as your preferred language, your theme or your consent choices, so your experience is more consistent.
Cookies can be "first-party" (set by our own domain) or "third-party" (set by external services we integrate). They can also be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (kept for a defined period). We also use similar technologies such as browser local storage, which we treat the same way as cookies.
2. Types of cookies we use
We group cookies into three categories: strictly necessary (technical), analytics, and advertising/affiliate. Only the necessary category is active by default; analytics and advertising/affiliate cookies are loaded exclusively after you accept them.
2.1. Necessary (technical) cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to work and to remember your basic choices. They do not require consent and cannot be disabled.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| mi-cookie-consent | Málaga Now | Stores your cookie consent preferences. | Persistent (browser storage) |
| theme | Málaga Now | Remembers your light/dark theme preference. | Persistent (browser storage) |
| favorites | Málaga Now | Stores your saved favourite places. | Persistent (browser storage) |
2.2. Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand, in aggregate, how visitors interact with the website so we can improve it. They are set ONLY with your consent. We use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated number as a client identifier. | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics 4 | Used to persist session state for Google Analytics 4. | 2 years |
| _clck | Microsoft Clarity | Persists the Clarity user ID and preferences for the website. | 1 year |
| _clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Connects multiple page views by a user into a single Clarity session. | Session (1 day) |
| CLID | Microsoft Clarity | Identifies the first time Clarity saw this user on any site using Clarity. | 1 year |
Google Analytics 4 data is processed by Google LLC (USA); see policies.google.com/privacy. Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps and session recordings) is provided by Microsoft Corporation (USA); see privacy.microsoft.com.
2.3. Advertising and affiliate cookies
These cookies support the advertising and affiliate links that help fund this free guide, through Google AdSense and the GetYourGuide affiliate programme. They are set ONLY with your consent.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| IDE | Google AdSense / DoubleClick | Registers and reports user actions after viewing or clicking an ad, to measure and personalise advertising. | 1 year |
| test_cookie | Google AdSense / DoubleClick | Checks whether the browser supports cookies. | Session |
| DSID | Identifies a signed-in Google user and remembers their ad personalisation settings. | 2 weeks | |
| affiliate / partner tracking | GetYourGuide | Set when you click a GetYourGuide link, to attribute bookings to this site under the affiliate programme. | Up to 1 year |
Google AdSense uses interest-based advertising; manage it at adssettings.google.com. GetYourGuide affiliate cookies are set on getyourguide.com when you follow one of our links; see getyourguide.com/legal/privacy-policy. We earn a commission if you book, at no extra cost to you.
3. Managing your consent
When you first visit the site, a cookie banner lets you accept all cookies, reject all non-necessary cookies, or choose per category. No analytics or advertising/affiliate cookie is loaded until you have made a choice.
You can review or change your decision at any time from the "Cookie Settings" panel (button below) or from the link in the site footer. Withdrawing consent stops future use of those cookies; cookies already stored can be removed from your browser as described in the next section.
4. How to disable cookies in your browser
Independently of our consent panel, you can block or delete cookies directly in your browser:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
- Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Note: blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of this and other websites.
5. Data controller
The party responsible for this website and for the processing of data via cookies is:
- Operator: STAKKER SYSTEMS (Samuel Martínez García).
- Tax ID (NIF): 53928594B.
- Activity: Servicios de información turística online (IAE 844, CNAE 7311).
